About the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) & Operation Clean Sweep

Founded in 1937, the Plastics Industry Association (https://www.plasticsindustry.org) is the plastics industry trade association representing the third largest manufacturing industry in the United States. PLASTICS’ member companies represent the entire plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw materials suppliers.

PLASTICS created and launched the Operation Clean Sweep® program in 1991 to help the industry implement good housekeeping and pellet containment practices to work towards achieving zero pellet, flake, and powder discharge. In addition, PLASTICS is a signatory to the “Declaration for Solutions on Marine Litter” and committed to work collectively with organizations around the globe to address the issue of marine debris.
